The exhibition occupies the Great Hall of the Gemäldegalerie (Old Master Paintings) at the Kulturforum. The Gemäldegalerie collection dates back to the picture gallery in the Royal Museum in Berlin’s Lustgarten. The Gemäldegalerie of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (National Museums in Berlin) is one of the largest art galleries in the world and presents, in a collection extending to over one thousand displayed masterpieces, the evolution of European paintings from the 13th to the 18th century. Italian art is well represented and includes eight works by Botticelli.
